COAT advocates for accessibility and usability of technology for people with disabilities. Enacting the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act (21st CVAA) was a huge step forward and we are working to implement this new law. COAT’s overall aim is to ensure accessibility, usability, and affordability of all broadband, wireless, and Internet technologies for people with disabilities.
National Broadband Plan: COAT Affiliates & Others Tell FCC to Include People with Disabilities
In follow-up to the FCC Workshop on "Broadband Oppportunities for People with Disabilities," held August 20, COAT affiliates and several others submitted extensive comments into the record at the FCC. The workshop purpose was to gather further information as the FCC develops the National Broadband Plan. Another FCC workshop is scheduled for October 20 for further input on disability concerns. Information submitted included statistics, accessibility and affordability barriers and related topics about broadband development.
