COAT advocates for accessibility and usability of technology for people with disabilities. Enacting the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act (21st CVAA) was a huge step forward and we are working to implement this new law. COAT’s overall aim is to ensure accessibility, usability, and affordability of all broadband, wireless, and Internet technologies for people with disabilities.
COAT Welcomes new Chief of FCC Consumer & Government Affairs Bureau
December 9, 2009, Washington, D.C.--COAT welcomes Joel Gurin, former Executive Vice President of Consumers Union, who has been appointed as the new Chief of the FCC's Consumer & Governmental Affairs Bureau (CGB), replacing current Acting Chief Mark Stone, who will become Deputy Chief. As most know, CGB currently houses the FCC's Disabilities Rights office (DRO).Disability consumer advocates are encouraged to meet with Mr. Gurin if they visit the FCC.
