COAT advocates for accessibility and usability of technology for people with disabilities. Enacting the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act (21st CVAA) was a huge step forward and we are working to implement this new law. COAT’s overall aim is to ensure accessibility, usability, and affordability of all broadband, wireless, and Internet technologies for people with disabilities.
COAT Comments to FCC on Comcast, GE & NBC-Universal Merger
On July 7, 2010, COAT sent Comments (read here) to the FCC in regard to the proposed merger of Comcast with GE and NBC Universal. Our comments addressed the need for the merged corporation to provide leadership in accessibility and usability across its video products and services companies. For instance, COAT expects more captioning and video description, accessible and usable equipment and interfaces, accessible phone services, and customer services that are responsive to people with disabilities.
