COAT Makes Recommendations to FCC on National Broadband Plan

On June 8, 2009 COAT sent Comments to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on the national broadband plan they must submit to the US Congress by February 17, 2010.  COAT asked the FCC to ensure that the plan fosters access for people with disabilities to help eliminate the broadband divide facing our community.

Markey Introduces Bipartisan Telecom Accessibility Bill

On June 19, 2008, Representative Edward J. Markey (D-MA), chairman of the House Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet introduced the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act to enhance access to broadband technology and services for persons with disabilities. Rep. Heather A. Wilson (R-NM) joined Rep. Markey as an original co-sponsor of the bill.

COAT Members Urge Action by Wireless Industry to Improve Disability Accessibility

Synopsis: (August 14, 2007) Consumers with disabilities are taking their concerns about lack of accessibility of cell phones to the Federal Communications Commission. Multiple complaints against numerous companies, both cell phone carriers and manufacturers, have been submitted by representatives of the Coalition of Organizations for Accessible Technology.
